The family of Muhamad Hafiz Salleh, a food delivery rider who died in a plane crash in Shah Alam, has received an insurance payout. A foodpanda Malaysia spokesperson confirmed that the funds had been disbursed to the family. The company’s delivery partners are insured up to RM100,000 in the event of accidental death or permanent disability while on duty. The spokesperson informed the family about the completion of the insurance claim process during their visit on September 14.
Muhamad Hafiz Salleh was one of the two individuals killed in a plane crash on the Guthrie Highway in Shah Alam on August 17. The aircraft, which had taken off from Langkawi, was authorized to land at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang. However, it crashed into Persiaran Elmina after losing communication with the control tower.
In addition to Muhamad Hafiz Salleh, among the deceased were Pelangai state assemblyman and Pahang exco member Datuk Seri Johari Harun, pilots Shahrul Kamal Roslan and Heikal Aras Abdul Azim, passengers Kharil Azwan Jamaludin, Shaharul Amir Omar, Mohamad Naim Fawwaz Mohamed Muaidi, Muhammad Taufiq Mohd Zaki, and Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali. Another individual, e-hailing driver Sharipuddin Shaari, also lost his life in the accident.
