PETALING JAYA: Selangor will be the most interesting state to watch given the almost equal composition of government and Opposition assemblymen in the state assembly, says Selangor PAS information chief Ustaz Nushi Mahfodz.
He said Perikatan Nasional won 22 seats, denying the Pakatan Harapan-Brisan Nasional pact a two-thirds majority.
“Barisan only won two state seats compared to four in 2018,” he said.
“Pakatan Harapan got 32 seats in comparison, with 15 to DAP, 12 for PKR seats and five for Amanah,” he added.
Nushi said DAP held more seats than PKR, which is the former Selangor mentri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’ party.
He said that notably, two state seats under the Gombak parliamentary seat – Hulu Kelang and Gombak Setia – fell to Perikatan Nasional.
The Pakatan-Barisan pact won 34 seats in the Selangor state polls.
The new Selangor mentri besar is slated to be sworn in on Aug 21.
It is believed that Amirudin will be sworn in for the second term.
