KOTA KINABALU: A man, identified as Ahmad Syagul Nasip, 35, died on Saturday (July 29) after crashing the car he was driving into the retaining wall of a bridge in Penampang, near here.
The incident took place around 5am near Kampung Dambai Proper, off Jalan Papar Lama.
According to acting Penampang police chief Deputy Supt Sammy Newton, the victim was traveling from Donggongon, the Penampang district capital, when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the wall.
Paramedics confirmed his death at the scene as a result of the impact.
The body of the deceased has been transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital I for a post-mortem examination.
DSP Sammy has urged anyone who has information or witnessed the accident to come forward and assist the police with their investigation, which is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
