SIBU: Two men lost their lives in a tragic accident on Wednesday (Aug 2) when their car collided head-on with a trailer lorry near Simpang Sungai Arip along the Sibu-Tatau road.
The deceased have been identified as Jeffery Belimi, 35, and Maximilon Joseph, 25.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s daily update on Thursday (Aug 3), the distress call reporting the accident was received at 4.05pm.
Firefighters from Tatau fire station were swiftly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that the two occupants of the lorry had fortunately escaped unharmed.
“Regrettably, the paramedics from Tatau health clinic declared both victims inside the car deceased,” the statement mentioned.
