A Form Five student died as a result of a car accident involving a senior police officer, who has now been charged with murder, according to Attorney-General Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh. The suspect will be tentatively charged at the Ipoh Magistrate’s court under Section 302 of the Penal Code on Monday, with the case to be transferred to the Ipoh High Court for trial. This decision was made after scrutinizing the results of the investigation and based on the evidence in the investigation paper.
The incident occurred at about 12.40pm on Friday (Dec 15), resulting in the death of Muhammad Zaharif Affendi, a student at SMK Jati. Authorities have determined that Affendi died from chest and abdominal injuries. The police officer involved, a Deputy Superintendent based in Kedah, has been remanded until Monday to facilitate investigations following the accident.
