A Singaporean man, aged 23, was killed and his pillion rider, a 22-year-old girlfriend, was injured after their motorcycle collided with the back of a trailer lorry at KM9.5 of the Second Link in Iskandar Puteri. The incident occurred around 10.30pm on Friday, August 4, according to Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin.
Both individuals were heading towards Johor Baru at the time of the accident. Initial investigations revealed that the rider collided with the left side of the trailer. The rider sustained a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, who was knocked unconscious, was immediately taken to the Sultanah Ismail Hospital (HSI) for treatment. She regained consciousness on Saturday, August 5, and was subsequently transported back to Singapore for further medical attention, accompanied by her family.
The trailer lorry involved in the incident was driven by a 49-year-old man. The police have seized the vehicle and are conducting an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987, as stated by ACP Rahmat.
