Two individuals lost their lives following a collision between their motorcycles at KM19 of Jalan Bota Kiri-Tanjung Belanja in Perak Tengah, Ipoh. The incident occurred at 7pm on Monday (July 31), and both victims, aged 64 and 17, were pronounced dead on the scene, according to Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
Comm Mohd Yusri stated that the investigation unveiled that the 64-year-old man, a farmer, was on his way home to Kampung Tua from Tanjung Belanja. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old student from SMK Iskandar Shah was returning home from a surau in the opposite direction.
At an intersection near his residence, the older man abruptly made a right turn, resulting in a collision with the teenager’s motorcycle, Comm Mohd Yusri explained. Both victims were not wearing helmets and suffered fatal head injuries upon impact.
The post mortem is scheduled to be carried out on Tuesday (Aug 1) at Changkat Melintang Hospital in Parit, he added. The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act. Motorists are urged to exercise caution on the road and ensure proper helmet usage, Comm Mohd Yusri emphasized.
