PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Government will return 55 lots of land to Sabah and Sarawak in accordance with the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. This includes 52 lots of land owned by Sarawak and three owned by Sabah.
Fadilla stated that many land lots in Sabah and Sarawak were acquired by the Federal Government but remained undeveloped. Returning them to the states will allow for development.
“These land lots are no longer used by the Federal Government. For safety, health, and other reasons, they need to be handed back to the state governments,” Fadillah explained at a press conference.
He also mentioned that the two state governments will reimburse the compensation paid when the Federal Government acquired the land.
Sarawak has requested the return of 219 lots of land, while Sabah has requested five, according to Fadillah, who is also the Plantation and Commodities Minister. – Bernama
