A man aged 55 died in a fire that destroyed ten houses in the Semporna district on Monday (Dec 4).
The authorities discovered the body of the foreigner at around 11.16am while inspecting the site after they managed to control the blaze.
According to Semporna OCPD Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, they received a report about the fire at Kampung Tepian Bakau at 9.08am.
“The firefighters at the scene were able to get the fire under control, which had destroyed 10 houses there,” he said.
“The team found the remains after extinguishing the fire, and Semporna police have classified this case as a sudden death report.
“The body has been sent to the Semporna hospital forensics unit for an autopsy,” Mohd Farhan said.
