KUALA LUMPUR: A mother and her son were rescued from their burning house in Serdang near here early Thursday (Aug 31) thanks to the quick response of firemen. Serdang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Saharudin Abd Razak, stated that they received a distress call about a fire at a double-storey house in Taman Serdang Raya at 5.35am. Firemen from the Serdang and Bandar Tun Hussein Onn fire stations arrived at the scene to find the house completely engulfed in flames with the 62-year-old woman and her 30-year-old son trapped on the top floor.
Due to the intensity of the fire, the firemen had to break open the window grille to access the victims, who were only semi-conscious at that point.
