PUTRAJAYA: The President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos Jr, has arrived in Malaysia for his first state visit to the country. He is expected to receive a state welcoming ceremony at Istana Negara by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today.
Following the ceremony, President Marcos Jr will have an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, followed by a State Banquet held in his honor and that of his delegation. This statement was released by Wisma Putra.
The president is accompanied by the First Lady, Louise Araneta-Marcos, along with cabinet secretaries, elected representatives, and senior officials from the Philippine government.
According to Bernama, Marcos is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. During their meeting, both leaders are expected to discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest.
This visit highlights the longstanding friendship and close ties between the two countries as neighboring nations and ASEAN partners. It follows Anwar’s official visit to Manila in March of this year.
