Five men have been charged at a Sessions Court in Ipoh for committing gang robbery at a semiconductor factory. The accused, Mohd Nizam Abd Rahim, Junaidy Ali, Muhamad Rozaidi Yusoff, Rizuan Mohamad Yusof, and Zairul Nizam Mohd Sazali, pleaded not guilty to the charges before Sessions Court Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad on October 3.

The charge sheet states that on September 14, at approximately 8.45pm at the Carsem Factory in Taman Maju Rapat, the five men robbed a foreign guard named Chhetri Purna Bahadur. They stole rejected units of chips from the factory’s scrap store. The accused have been charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction.

Mohd Nizam, Muhammad Rozaidi, Rizuan Mohamad, and Zairul Nizam were represented by counsel Dayang Nor Emilia Azman Shah, while Junaidy was represented by lawyer A. Logaprieyan. During mitigation, Logaprieyan mentioned that his client earns RM800 per month as a farmer and has responsibilities to care for his elderly parents. He also revealed that his client suffers from a testicular disorder.

Dayang Nor Emilia explained that Mohd Nizam, who works as a security guard, has five children, one of whom is disabled. She further stated that Muhammad Rozaidi is a contract laborer with three school-going children, earning approximately RM1,000 per month. Rizuan, a small-time fisherman from Penang, earns RM500 per month and has four children. Zairul Nizam, a lorry attendant, earns RM1,000 per month and has three children. Their lawyers requested for lower bail considering their financial situations.
