KOTA KINABALU: A man has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Tawau Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (Sept 14) for flashing his genitals at a woman during a video call.
Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjun imposed the jail term on Raziman Ibrahim after the 35-year-old admitted to the charge of outraging the modesty of the victim as stated under Section 509 of the Penal Code.
According to the case details, the incident occurred at a residence in Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat at around 3pm on Aug 19.
The accused deliberately exposed his private parts to the 38-year-old woman via a video call with the intention of engaging in lewd behavior.
The violation is punishable under the same Act, which carries a maximum prison sentence of five years, a fine, or both.
The court ruled that the accused will begin serving his prison sentence from the date of his arrest.
Prosecuting officer Asst Supt Nur Intan Jamrin represented the prosecution in the case, while the accused did not have legal representation.
