Flash floods caused by heavy rain on Thursday night have forced 102 people from 33 families in Baling to be evacuated to two temporary relief centers. The Kedah Civil Defense Force (APM) set up the Masjid Islahiyah Tawar and Masjid Binjul Luar as relief centers to accommodate the affected individuals. Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain, head of the APM disaster management secretariat, reported that the Masjid Islahiyah Tawar relief center accommodated 91 victims from 31 families starting at 11pm, while the Masjid Binjul Luar relief center opened at midnight and is now housing 11 other victims from two families. The heavy rain caused the Ketil river to overflow, resulting in flooding in Kampung Padang Empang and Kampung Iboi. At 8pm, the water level in the river at Kampung Kuala Pegang had exceeded the danger level of 36.19 meters. So far, there have been no reports of casualties, and relevant agencies are closely monitoring the flood situation. – Bernama
