    Flood: Selangor opens two more relief centres, four PPS remain open in Perak

    KUALA LUMPUR: Two additional relief centres (PPS) have been established in Selangor, bringing the total in the state to seven. These centres are intended to accommodate flood victims in Sepang, Hulu Langat, and Subang Jaya.

    According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Info Bencana, a total of 579 victims from 157 families are currently being housed at the seven PPS sites.

    Out of the total, 96 victims are being accommodated at the PPS located at SK Bangi and SK Semenyih in Hulu Langat. Additionally, 10 victims are being housed at the PPS in Dewan Serbaguna Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ) Camelia Section 10, Putra Heights.

    The other four PPS locations are Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Dato Ahmad Razali, Dewan Orang Ramai Jenderam Hilir, Dewan Orang Ramai Taman Gemilang, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dengkil, all totaling 473 flood victims.

    Meanwhile, in PERAK, there are still 219 evacuees from 63 families seeking refuge at four PPS centers in the Hilir Perak and Kerian districts.

    The Secretariat of the Perak Disaster Management Committee announced that the flood victims in Hilir Perak, consisting of 53 individuals from 17 families, are currently housed at the PPS in Dewan Serbaguna Padang Tembak. In addition, 12 others from three families are being accommodated at the PPS in Dewan Majlis Perbandaran Teluk Intan.

    In Kerian, the number of flood victims continues to be 97 individuals from 24 families who are currently seeking shelter at the PPS in SK Changkat Lobak. Furthermore, 57 individuals from 19 families are being housed at the PPS in SK Alor Pongsu, as stated in the announcement.

    Meanwhile, the Department of Drainage and Irrigation (DID) has reported that Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong has reached a dangerous water level, measuring at 4.02 meters. Additionally, Sungai Kinta at the Tanjung Tualang Weir and Sungai Slim at Slim River have reached alert levels, measuring at 13.29 meters and 25 meters, respectively.

    Based on information provided by the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to be pleasant in the morning, with rain and storms anticipated to occur in most districts in Perak during the afternoon and evening. – Bernama
