KUALA LUMPUR: The number of evacuees at temporary relief centres in Selangor and Perak has decreased, indicating a positive trend in the flood situation in both states this morning (Nov 12).
There are currently 192 people from 49 families still staying at four centres in Selangor, a drop from 225 people from 58 families reported the previous night, as per the Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana portal.
The affected centers are the Jenderam Hilir community hall, SMK Dengkil, and Dengkil community hall in Sepang district, as well as Kampung Bukit Changgang community hall in Kuala Langat.
In Perak, the number of evacuees has decreased to 423 people from 127 families, compared to 432 people from 130 families reported the previous night, according to Bernama.
These individuals are sheltering at five relief centers in Hilir Perak and Kerian districts.
The state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat stated that in Hilir Perak, 169 people from 52 families are still housed at the Padang Tembak multipurpose hall. The Teluk Intan Municipal Council hall is accommodating 70 people from 24 families. Meanwhile, 40 people from 11 families are being housed in Chikus multipurpose hall.
In the Kerian district, the number of evacuees has dropped to 87 people from 21 families at SK Changkat Lobak, and 57 people from 19 families are still being accommodated at SK Alor Pongsu,” the statement read.
