In Johor, the number of flood victims has risen to 1,481 people at 13 relief centres as of 6am Friday (Jan 5), an increase from 1,024 the previous night.
The National Disaster Management Agency’s (Nadma) National Disaster Command Centre reported that there are four relief centres in Johor Baru housing 420 victims; six centres in Kota Tinggi with 720 victims; two in Mersing with 271 victims; and one in Kluang with 70 victims.

The report also indicated that four rivers in the peninsula were at the danger level: Sungai Tenglu Besar Mersing, Johor at 2.12m with a decreasing trend; Sungai Endau Kluang, Johor at 14.74m with an increasing trend; Sungai Perak Hulu Perak, Perak at 112.04m with a decreasing trend; and Sungai Arau in Arau, Perlis at 24.15m with an increasing trend this morning.
Additionally, 23 roads were closed due to flooding, damaged bridges, or landslide incidents.
