As of 9am Wednesday (Jan 10), the number of flood victims in Johor who have been displaced stands at 8,221, with 53 temporary relief centres established in six affected districts in the state. This number has increased from 7,460 evacuees at 57 relief centres reported as of 4pm Tuesday (Jan 9).

The state disaster management committee reported that the district of Kota Tinggi is the most severely affected, with 4,730 victims seeking refuge in 26 relief centres. Johor Baru has 1,976 victims, Kluang has 1,308, Segamat has 99, Kulai has 86, and Pontian has 22.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in most districts in Johor later today. Additionally, it has been reported that four rivers in the state have surpassed the danger level due to frequent rainfall over the last few days.
These rivers are Sungai Kahang near Kampung Contoh in Kluang, Sungai Kepala Orang near Kampung Sri Jaya, Sungai Linggiu, and Sungai Johor, all in Kota Tinggi.
