    Floods: Number of flood victims drops in K'tan, T'ganu, Johor, rises in Pahang

    KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 28 (Bernama) — The number of flood evacuees has declined in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Johor, while increasing in Pahang, with a total of 24,733 individuals seeking refuge tonight compared to 26,914 this afternoon, according to the latest report from the National Disaster Control Centre, National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

    The report indicates that the number of active temporary relief centres (PPS) in the affected states has decreased to 101 as of 8 pm tonight from 131 at noon.

    Kelantan continues to have the highest number of flood victims at PPS, with 20,969 individuals from 6,615 families, followed by Terengganu (3,432 individuals from 951 families), Pahang (278 people from 72 families), and Johor (54 victims from 14 families).

    In Kelantan, the number of flood victims has decreased to 20,969 tonight from 21,252 this afternoon. The evacuees are being housed in 53 PPS across four districts, with the PPS in Pasir Mas district accommodating the most victims at 16,980.

    The number of flood victims in Terengganu has dropped to 3,432 tonight at 37 PPS from 5,359 at 53 PPS this afternoon. The affected districts include Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Kemaman, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, and Setiu.

    Johor has seen a decrease in the number of evacuees to 54 tonight from 63 this afternoon, with three PPS still active in Segamat.

    On the other hand, Pahang has witnessed an increase in the number of victims to 278 individuals at eight PPS in seven districts tonight, including 17 landslide victims at a PPS in Cameron Highlands, compared to 209 people at five PPS in four districts this afternoon. – Bernama
