Level 1 and Level 2 government religious schools in Johor that have been affected by floods will have their second term examinations postponed, according to an announcement made by Johor Religious Affairs Committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid on Sunday (Jan 7) night, as reported in a Facebook post. The examinations, which began on Jan 3, were originally scheduled to end on Jan 18. However, the floods have disrupted the normal course of activities at some schools, with several even being used as relief centres.
Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid confirmed that the postponed examinations will be rescheduled to a later date, determined by the Johor Islamic Department’s education division headquarters. As of 10 pm on Sunday, the state disaster management committee noted an increase in the number of evacuees, with a total of 3,744 individuals seeking refuge in six districts, compared to 3,322 at 9 pm. There are currently 45 relief centres in operation in the six affected districts, with Kota Tinggi recording the highest number of evacuees at 1,871 individuals from 492 families. – Bernama
