THE Selangor government is waiting for reports from state agencies on the actions taken at flood hotspots before deciding on the appropriate rescue operations and support for victims.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he expected to review the reports by Friday (Nov 10) morning.

“I have issued instructions last month for flood hotspots to be identified and for proactive measures to be taken. The reports from the state disaster committee and local authorities will be presented and discussed at the state exco meeting,” he said on Wednesday (Nov 8).

Amirudin said the emphasis would be on the planned rescue efforts by the relevant agencies.

“The reports will also detail the types of support and aid that will be provided to flood victims,” he said, adding the information would also be given to relief centers.

The Mentri Besar was met at Shah Alam Convention Centre after launching the Integrity Day Celebration meant for the staff at Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and its subsidiaries.

On Wednesday, the number of evacuees rose to 768 people involving 196 families in four districts namely Hulu Langat, Sepang, Petaling and Kuala Langat.

This was compared to 722 people from 184 families on Tuesday night, according to a Bernama report.

Also present was MBI chief operating officer Saipolyazan M Yusop.
