    Flood Relief Centres Opened in Segamat



    JOHOR BARU: Two temporary relief centres have been opened to house 25 flood evacuees in Segamat.

    The centres opened as of 2pm Wednesday (Dec 27), and they are at the Kampung Batu Badak public hall and Kampung Jabi public hall to shelter 17 and eight people, respectively.

    The Johor disaster management committee said the areas affected were Kampung Seberang Batu Badak and Kampung Sermin.

    “This brings the total number of flood victims in Johor to 108 people from 30 families.

    “The situation remains unchanged at the Kompleks Taman Negara Endau-Rompin relief centre in Mersing, which is sheltering 25 families with 83 victims from Kampung Orang Asli Peta,” it said in a statement.

    It added that cloudy skies and rain have been reported in all districts in the state except for Muar.

    The Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecasted thunderstorms in the Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Baru districts.

    The department also issued an alert for continuous rain in Segamat, Mersing and Kota Tinggi.
