KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urges all Malaysians to display the Jalur Gemilang during the National Month as a symbol of their loyalty and love for the country and to embrace the spirit of independence. The Prime Minister also calls on the public to observe National Month and demonstrate that they belong to a generation that understands the challenges faced by previous generations in achieving the nation’s independence.
“I suggest that from now until Independence Day on August 31 and subsequently Malaysia Day on September 16, we proudly hoist the Jalur Gemilang on all vehicles, at every workplace, in homes, or wherever possible, to demonstrate that Malaysia has now united as a nation with aspirations and ideals that embody the spirit of independence,” he states.
Anwar expresses these sentiments in a special video message for the National Day 2023 celebration, produced by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).
“Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope)” is the chosen theme for this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.
The National Day celebration is scheduled for August 31 at Dataran Putrajaya, while the Malaysia Day celebration on September 16 will be held in Kuching, Sarawak. – Bernama
