In a meeting with Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) top management and employees in Iskandar Puteri, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed the importance of private firms and government-linked companies (GLCs) prioritizing the welfare and well-being of their employees. He emphasized that a focus on workers’ welfare would distinguish Malaysia’s economic development model from that of other countries.

Anwar Ibrahim added that the government is committed to safeguarding the welfare of the people in line with the country’s economic development. He believes that profitable companies, including private ones, should pay attention to fair wages and employee welfare, such as health and housing.

He urged employers in Malaysia not to neglect the welfare of their staff and emphasized that the effort to achieve Malaysia’s potential to become a developed country must be made with full commitment, including combating corruption.

Anwar Ibrahim stressed the need for employers to excel, demonstrate resilience, and contribute to the nation. He also highlighted that outdated practices like abuse of power, bribery, and self-enrichment must be eradicated in order for Malaysia to progress.

He emphasized the importance of preventing leaders from stealing the wealth of the people and the nation, and expressed the need for the country to be free from corruption. Anwar Ibrahim stressed that cleaning up corruption is crucial for saving the country’s resources and ensuring that funds are directed towards building schools, homes, infrastructure, healthcare facilities, and hospitals.

He encouraged the public to believe in the government’s actions against corruption, despite potential opposition, and urged for unity in the effort to eradicate corrupt practices.
