A food delivery rider, aged 43, who was involved in an accident on Sunday (Sept 17) in Kota Kinabalu, has sadly passed away due to severe head injuries on Monday (Sept 18), according to Kota Kinabalu acting OCPD Supt Kalsom Idris.
The victim was taken to Likas Hospital where they were receiving treatment, however, they were pronounced dead at 12.45pm.
The incident is currently under investigation and is being probed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (causing death by reckless or dangerous driving), as stated by Supt Kalsom in a statement.
While riding his motorcycle along Jalan UMS, the victim collided with a car. Preliminary investigations indicate that the 27-year-old driver of the car was traveling in the direction of Likas from One Sulaman when the crash occurred.
Supt Kalsom added, “The collision happened when the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle and unintentionally hit the rider.”
