Foreign workers can now be employed by barbershops, goldsmiths, and textile stores, according to the announcement made by Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar at a ministry event in Klang. The decision was reached during a Cabinet meeting and an initial quota of 7,500 workers has been approved, as stated by Sivakumar on Friday.
The aim is to address the labor shortage that has adversely affected these three sub-sectors, with businesses having to shut down due to a lack of personnel. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously revealed a partial approval for the recruitment of foreign workers in barbershops, textile stores, and jewelry stores on Monday.
