A man, believed to be a foreign national, was killed in Bukit Mertajam after being struck by a train near Taman Sri Kijang in Machang Bubok on Monday, August 21. The Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district police received a report about the incident around 8:30 pm and promptly dispatched a team to the scene. Upon arrival, the team discovered the body of a man in his 30s. The man had no identification documents on him and his left upper arm did not display the scar typically associated with a BCG vaccination. A statement released on Tuesday, August 22 by ACP Tan Cheng San, the SPT district police chief, revealed that the victim’s body was sent to Bukit Mertajam Hospital for an autopsy. San also urged anyone with information about the man or individuals who have missing family members, friends, or employees to contact the police at 04-538 2222 to assist with the investigation. Furthermore, San advised the public to refrain from trespassing on railway tracks as it poses potential risks to both lives and property – Bernama.
