Tan Sri Idrus Harun granted Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) due to his conscience before retiring, according to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar, the Prime Minister, stated that he was informed about the decision to proceed with the DNAA by the former Attorney General.
During a session in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Sept 19), Anwar shared, “He said he had to grant due to certain reasons. I asked if it could be delayed? He said no. (He said it is) my duty my conscience I have to do it before I leave.”
A heated debate ensued in Parliament as Anwar (PH-Tambun) was giving an explanation regarding the DNAA granted to Ahmad Zahid for 47 charges in his corruption case.
Subsequently, a group of Opposition MPs decided to stage a walkout in protest against the Speaker’s decision.
