Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, the former deputy mentri besar of Kelantan, has been selected as the Speaker for the 15th term of the Kelantan state assembly, according to Malay language daily Sinar Harian. On September 5, Mohd Amar took his oath of office in front of the state assembly. Sinar Harian also reported the appointment of Datuk Mohamed Farid Mohamed Zawawi, the Kok Lanas assemblyman, as the Deputy Speaker.
Having held the position of deputy mentri besar from 2013, Mohd Amar was not reappointed following the recent state elections.
