PETALING JAYA: Former Pasir Salak MP and Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has established a new non-governmental organisation (NGO) with the objective of assisting Malays, according to a news portal.
The recently formed NGO, known as “Pasir Salak Bangkit”, is headed by Tajuddin as its president. He stated that the organisation was created because Malays have been “left behind economically, academically, and politically”.
Tajuddin, a former Umno division chief, expressed concern over recent developments that have placed Malays at a considerable disadvantage compared to others. “I feel sad because that is very dangerous,” he stated as quoted by the portal.
The NGO’s inaugural gathering, named Himpunan Melayu Bangkit, will take place on Wednesday (August 30) in Kampung Gajah, Pasir Salak, Perak.
Tajuddin mentioned that the event is open to individuals regardless of their political affiliation.
When questioned about the similarities between his group and the Malay Proclamation movement, founded by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to unite Malays and address the 12 key issues faced by the community, Tajuddin dismissed any comparisons.
In June 2022, Tajuddin was removed from the Umno supreme council, and in October of the same year, his party membership was suspended for six years by the council.
He was also relieved of his position as Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia in July 2022.
