JASIN: Four individuals, including a 42-year-old woman, have been apprehended for stealing copper cables belonging to Telekom Malaysia (TM). Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Jamil Radzi disclosed that the four suspects were captured by his officers during a crime prevention patrol in Merlimau at 5.30am on Thursday (Sept 21).
According to the Deputy Supt, a police car came across a luxury vehicle driven by two suspects in Serkam, prompting them to attempt to intercept the car. “However, the two suspects tried to escape, resulting in a high-speed pursuit. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the wall of a building managed by the Community Development Department (Kemas) here,” he stated on Friday (Sept 22).
DSP Ahmad Jamil further explained that the suspects were arrested on-site and confessed that they had driven all the way from Kajang in Selangor to steal the cables. The interrogation of these two suspects led to the arrest of two others in Kajang on the same day.
DSP Jamil revealed that the male suspects are aged between 23 to 33 years old. Additionally, he disclosed that the suspects had attempted to steal copper cables worth RM30,000 from Serkam. Furthermore, two of the suspects had prior criminal records related to robberies and drug abuse.
