Police took four foreign individuals into custody after the body of a Filipino woman was discovered with multiple slash wounds at a plantation in Beaufort, located about 100km from Kota Kinabalu on Monday (Dec 25).
The Beaufort OCPD Deputy Superintendent Ismail Abdullah revealed that three men and a woman, all between the ages of 30 and 40, were apprehended to help with investigations into the death of the 43-year-old plantation worker.
For the purpose of the inquiry, all four suspects have been remanded, and the authorities are yet to determine the motive behind the murder.
DSP Ismail explained that the victim’s body was discovered with multiple stab and slash wounds, including on the forehead and neck, with one hand almost severed.
“We are still seeking additional suspects in connection with the incident,” he remarked on Tuesday (Dec 26).
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicated that the victim went missing after leaving for work.
Following her disappearance, the victim’s husband, who also worked at the plantation, initiated a search and found her black pants.
Subsequently, other family members joined in the search efforts until her body was located.
The crime scene was examined by a forensic team from Kepayan police headquarters, and K9 unit dogs were deployed as part of the investigation.
