KUALA LUMPUR: An internal investigation has resulted in the arrest of four policemen accused of stealing jewellery.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa stated on Friday (Nov 1) that the complainant had filed a report regarding the theft. The case was initially classified as a Police Inquiry Paper (KEP).

However, after obtaining several additional statements, the case was reclassified as theft.

Following these investigations, the police arrested four officers in the Setapak area. The arrested individuals, aged between 28 and 35, held ranks from police constable to corporal.

A receipt and a yellow metal piece weighing 11.52g were confiscated during the arrests.

Comm Rusdi added that all suspects have been remanded for three days, until Nov 2.

The police continue to investigate and urge the public not to speculate on the matter, as it could disrupt the ongoing investigations.
