PETALING JAYA: The Cabinet has agreed to set up a special committee involving four ministries to address cyberbullying, says Fahmi Fadzil on Friday (July 19).

The Communications Minister had said in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (July 18) that the government would examine the need for a future-proof new law to deal with cyberbullying incidents.

He said this in response to Ahmad Fadhli’s question about the government’s initiative to enact specific laws involving cross-ministerial collaboration to deal with cyberbullying incidents during the Minister’s Question Time.

Cyberbullying became a hot topic recently after Hindu rights activist and influencer A. Rajeswary, better known as Esha, was found dead in a condominium unit in Setapak on July 5, a day after lodging a police report at the Dang Wangi police station here over threats made against her.
