According to Nilai OCPD Supt Abdul Malik Hasim, a four-month-old baby is believed to have passed away on Friday (Jan 5) due to head injuries.
The Nilai Health Clinic contacted the police at 9.30am to report the death of the baby, which occurred after a woman who was caring for the child took the baby to the clinic.
Supt Abdul Malik stated, “The baby was brought to the clinic by a woman from the Nilai Peoples Housing.”
On the day of the incident, the woman had placed the baby on a toto and attempted to feed the child milk, but discovered that the milk was dripping from the baby’s mouth.
Subsequently, the woman picked up the baby and attempted to pat the baby on the back before seeking help from neighbors to transport the child to the Nilai Health Clinic.
“When the medical practitioners were examining the baby in the clinic, there was no reaction from the baby,” he stated, adding that a police investigation also revealed no evidence of physical injuries on the child’s body.
However, a post-mortem conducted at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital on Saturday (Jan 6) revealed that the cause of death was a head injury, despite the absence of any injuries on the body.
He added that police have not detained anybody yet.- Bernama
