The Federal Territories Department (JWP) will release more information on the Madani Housing Scheme located on Malay reserve land in the vicinity of Kuala Lumpur, as stated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.

Dr Zaliha made this announcement in a statement on Sunday (March 3), expressing JWP’s support for the initiative introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the conclusion of the Bumiputera Economic Congress (BEC) 2024 the previous day.

During the BEC, Anwar revealed plans for the establishment of the Madani Housing Scheme which aims to construct 2,500 affordable housing units on Malay reserve land at an accelerated pace to enhance the well-being of the urban community.

In her statement, Dr Zaliha emphasized that the execution of projects and initiatives under JWP’s oversight and the relevant agencies, such as Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Putrajaya Corporation, and Labuan Corporation, will be in accordance with the three resolutions outlined in BEC 2024 to bolster bumiputra development and advancement.

She highlighted that through these resolutions, the bumiputra community in the Federal Territories, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, will have the opportunity to elevate their socio-economic status for a better future.

The three resolutions focus on strengthening the nation’s economic foundations, enhancing governance and institutional harmony, and upholding social justice.

Furthermore, Dr Zaliha mentioned that JWP will collaborate with pertinent ministries and agencies to train a substantial number of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainees from the hardcore poor segment, specifically bumiputra individuals, to equip them with the necessary skills for job placements matching their expertise, as per the Prime Minister’s wishes.

She disclosed that this initiative will fall under the Human Capital Development Programme (Puji) through the Upaya @ Puji initiative, with a key focus on providing exit strategies for marginalized groups.

Dr Zaliha also assured that JWP will facilitate partnerships with interested parties to actualize the resolutions and initiatives delineated in BEC 2024 relating to the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan, aligning with the comprehensive “whole of nation” approach outlined in the Federal Territories Blueprint Action Plan.

She expressed appreciation to the Prime Minister for announcing a diverse array of funding and initiatives for the progress of bumiputra individuals, particularly those residing in all three Federal Territories, and affirmed JWP’s commitment to supporting the aspirations of BEC. – Bernama
