In Kuala Lumpur, the Finance Ministry announced that the retail prices of RON97 and RON95 petrol as well as diesel will stay the same at RM3.47, RM2.05 and RM2.15 per litre respectively, from Dec 28 to Jan 3.
The Ministry stated that the prices were determined using the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which is based on the weekly retail price of petroleum products.
It was also mentioned that in order to shield consumers from the global price increase, the Government will maintain the ceiling prices of RON95 at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre, despite the fact that the market price for both products has risen above the current ceiling price.
The statement further indicated that the Government will continue to monitor the trend of global crude oil prices and take necessary actions to ensure the sustained welfare of the people. – Bernama
