The retail prices of RON97 and RON95 petrol, as well as diesel, will stay the same at RM3.47, RM2.05, and RM2.15 per litre, respectively, from Jan 4 to Jan 10, according to a statement from the Finance Ministry on Wednesday (Jan 3).
The prices were determined using the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) formula, which is based on the weekly retail price of petroleum products.
The government has decided to maintain the ceiling price of RON95 at RM2.05 per litre and diesel at RM2.15 per litre, despite the increase in the market price for both products. This decision aims to protect consumers from the global price increase.
The Government also stated that it will keep a close eye on the global crude oil prices and will take necessary actions to ensure the continued welfare and well-being of the people.
