    Fun literacy activities for Orang Asli villagers in Ulu Kinta

    An event called Jom Baca was organized in Kampung Chadak, Ulu Kinta, Perak, with the aim of promoting reading among the Orang Asli community. The initiative brought together more than 500 people and was supported by the National Unity Ministry (KPN) and the National Library of Malaysia (PNM).

    The programme, titled ‘A Reading Community is a Smart Community’, was officially launched by Norihan Mohamed Naim, the senior divisional secretary (management) of KPN. PNM shared in a press release its intention to expand these educational activities to other Orang Asli communities across the peninsula.

    In a statement, PNM expressed the hope that this programme would cultivate a reading culture within local communities, particularly among the Orang Asli, in order to provide them with knowledge and education for self-improvement.

    In addition to educational sessions, various activities such as karaoke competitions, cooking demonstrations, and health and dental check-ups were organized in the Orang Asli village.

    This reading promotion event in Kampung Chadak aimed to engage the Orang Asli community and encourage literacy. More than 500 individuals participated in the event, which was supported by the National Unity Ministry and the National Library of Malaysia.
