In its New Year message released on Dec 28, G25, a civil society organisation, expressed its desire for a government that is more transparent and proactive in engaging with the people on matters of public interest. The organisation stressed the importance of eradicating poverty and bridging income inequality as part of the government’s focus for the coming year.
G25 also hopes to see the government implement plans that will improve the economy and benefit all levels of Malaysian society. The organisation aspires for the country to be free from corruption, injustice, and disharmony.
It emphasized the need for practical moves to strengthen the independence and transparency of key governance institutions to address social malaise. G25 fervently hopes that Malaysia’s leaders will emphasize efforts to uphold human rights and individual freedoms, which will contribute to the progress of the country.
According to G25, increased confidence in the country’s governance institutions will positively impact confidence in the economy.
In addition, the organisation also expressed anticipation for a more prosperous, united, and harmonious nation under the rule of the 17th Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. G25 pledged to support the government in its efforts to develop Malaysia into one of the most successful developing nations and eventually a fully developed nation.
G25 also called for a greater emphasis on improving and strengthening the education system to address the disruptions caused by the pandemic and to confront global challenges. The organisation urged the government to engage with stakeholders before making significant decisions that may impact children’s education.
Enhancing the quality of education, particularly in terms of critical thinking and English language proficiency, is seen as crucial for the future of higher education, employability, and the nation as a whole, according to G25.
