BAERLOCHER GmbH, a leading supplier of plastics industry additives, celebrated its 200th anniversary with a lavish event at a five-star resort in Port Dickson. The German company, which operates in Negri Sembilan near Seremban, organized an exciting weekend of activities that concluded with a grand dinner. Key executives, including Dr Tobias Rosenthal, the majority shareholder, traveled from Germany to join their Malaysian team in celebrating the milestone.
In his speech, Rosenthal acknowledged Malaysia’s significance in the company’s growth, stating that operating in the country was a wise investment that opened doors to the Asian market. Baerlocher Malaysia continues to play a crucial role in the group’s Asian activities.
Founded in 1823 as a producer of sulphuric acid, Baerlocher GmbH now operates in over 50 countries, with production facilities in 15 locations. The company offers a wide range of stabilizers and additives suitable for all polymers and non-polymer applications.
Baerlocher GmbH expanded its presence into Malaysia in 1992, with the aim of establishing it as a hub for Southeast Asia, and later, the Asia-Pacific region. Rosenthal emphasized that the company’s success over two centuries resulted from long-term partnerships with customers and suppliers.
German ambassador Dr Peter Blomeyer, Malaysia Investment Development Authority (Mida) CEO Datuk Arham Abdul Rahman, and Baerlocher Malaysia Managing Director Sethu Palaniappan were also present at the celebration. Arham expressed gratitude for Baerlocher’s investment, which reflects confidence in Malaysia’s stable and friendly business environment.
In his speech, Sethu highlighted the growth of Baerlocher’s Seremban facility, which started with two production lines and now operates 19 lines with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes. Currently, 90% of production is exported to other markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
During the event, Rosenthal also recognized and presented long-service awards to dedicated employees. Baerlocher vows to continue its long-term vision, focusing on future generations and partnerships.
