BUTTERWORTH: A warden employed at a centre linked to GISB Sdn Bhd faces charges of sexual abuse in the Sessions Court on Monday (Oct 14).
Muhammad Miqdam Muhammad Amir pleaded not guilty to the charges read to him by Sessions Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah.
He is accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old two years ago by touching the child’s private parts at Rumah Jagaan Harapan Al Mahabbah, Jalan Bagan Buaya, Bagan Buaya in Nibong Tebal.
The offence allegedly took place on July 11, 2022, around noon in a dorm room at the centre.

The charge, under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Wan Amira Ruzaini Wan Abdul Razak prosecuted the case.
Lawyer Naqieya Zulkernain from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK), representing the accused, requested a lower bail, citing the accused’s unstable income and responsibility for his ill father.
Judge Zulhazmi granted bail at RM5,000 with one surety and instructed the accused to report to the nearest police station once a month, and not to intimidate the victim and witnesses.
The court set Nov 14 for mention and submission of documents.
