SHAH ALAM: The police are monitoring social media for content related to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISB), says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.
The Inspector General of Police said a special team from the criminal investigation department would conduct the monitoring as there had been posts by members, witnesses or those linked to the group on social media.
“Those with any information are requested to come forward to help the investigation,” he said when contacted by Sinar Harian on Sunday (Sept 22).
Razarudin said that investigations are still ongoing following the massive Ops Global operation carried out across Peninsular Malaysia on Saturday (Sept 21).
A total of 155 individuals, including 77 women, were arrested on Saturday.
They were arrested in raids on 82 locations involving charity houses, business premises, clinics and private residences.
In the operation, a total of 186 victims comprising 102 men and 84 women were rescued, including a child who was seen in a viral video who was being caned by a man believed to be a GISB member.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Children Act 2001 as well as Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.
