KUALA LUMPUR: Sixteen individuals, including the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) chief executive officer, are being held under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Sosma 2012.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said they were detained on Thursday (Oct 10) under Sosma upon the expiry of their remand.
“It brings the total number of individuals detained under Sosma to 58.
“The 16 latest to be detained (under Sosma) include the GISB CEO and other members of the leadership,” he told a press conference at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Thursday.
A total of 35 other GISB members are still being held under remand while 273 individuals have been released on police bail, he said.
“37 others have been released unconditionally and two were handed over to the Kedah Islamic Affairs Department while another one was handed over to the Immigration department for deportation,” he said.
Comm Mohd Shuhaily said 97 investigation papers in total have been opened in the course of the operation on GISB codenamed Ops Global.
“Among IPs, 12 IPs involving nine individuals have been prosecuted with 34 charges,” he said.
