    Puppy Adoption Drive

CANINE welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is holding a puppy adoption drive in collaboration with Amcorp Mall in Petaling Jaya on Saturday and Sunday (Nov 11 and 12).

The drive will be held at the mall’s canopied area from 10am to 6pm on both days.

MDDB has numerous rescued, destitute puppies and is striving to find them suitable homes to prevent them from ending up at the sanctuary, according to MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

Lai stated that MDDB already houses nearly 400 dogs and does not want to increase the numbers. She also mentioned that the primary individuals running MDDB are in their 50s and 60s.

The adoption drive is part of a mini fair including various other pet-related activities.

Lai disclosed that the puppies available for adoption are three out of a litter of six rescued in Cheras over three months ago.

“A pregnant dog wandered into the car porch of a home and delivered her litter there,” she stated, adding that the Muslim homeowner fed the mother dog and sought a rescue group to relocate the dogs.

Since then, three puppies have been adopted, and the remaining three are in immediate need of homes. Lai assured that they have been fully vaccinated and neutered.

“Adopters only need to provide the annual booster shot next year and for the following years,” Lai added.

She also mentioned that MDDB will be promoting its sponsorship program and raising funds to cover the annual vaccinations for its dogs.

Sponsors can choose to pay RM100 monthly for an able-bodied dog, and RM150 for a disabled dog to support their wellbeing. For more information, call 012-2316963 or 012-2414749.
