PETALING JAYA: Indian Customs officials at the Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) Airport in Tamil Nadu have seized a gold bar hidden in a jar brought from Kuala Lumpur. The individual who brought the gold bar, which is worth almost 890,000 rupees (RM50,000), reportedly traveled from Kuala Lumpur on Monday (Aug 28). The 149g 24K gold bar was discovered by India’s Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Wednesday (Aug 30), according to The Economic Times.
Indian customs officials stated that the gold bar was made from gold powder and concealed in a jar of Nutella. The individual was arrested by local officials in accordance with section 104 of the Customs Act, and the gold bar was seized under the provisions of section 110 of the Customs Act. Further investigations into the case are currently underway.
