KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Government, in the 42nd National Physical Planning Council (MPFN) meeting held on Monday (Sept 18), gave approval to the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Integrated Land Use Master Plan, also known as PeGTaECRL.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that this document would serve as a catalyst for development around 20 stations and along the routes of ECRL that have been designated.
“MPFN has provided a platform for the Federal Government to engage with the relevant state government on town and village planning, as well as national physical development, in accordance with the Federal Constitution,” he mentioned in a Facebook post following the meeting in Putrajaya on Monday.
In addition, the Prime Minister also mentioned that the meeting agreed on enhancing the approval process for the construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure by means of the Guidelines on Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Lots (GPP EVCB).
He emphasized that this is in line with the nation’s transformation of the automotive industry towards a more eco-friendly and sustainable future.
“The availability of charging infrastructure plays a crucial role in the transformation of the automotive sector,” he added.
Furthermore, the 42nd MPFN also reached a consensus on the necessity of adopting the National Geopark Development Plan 2021-2030 and the National Geopark Implementation Plan by federal agencies in collaboration with state governments, and translating its recommendations into local plan documents to control planning and land use at the local level,” as reported by Bernama.
