Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the government’s priority is to protect all Malaysians regardless of their religious beliefs, while emphasizing that Islam is the official religion of the federation. He stressed that Madani government is inclusive and not exclusive to Malays and Muslims, contrary to claims made.

Anwar emphasized that the Quran clearly states the protection of people of all races and regions, reiterating that Malaysia is a country that practices inclusivity. He also mentioned that the majority of citizens in Malaysia are Muslims, and it is important for non-Malays to acknowledge and accept this reality.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of openness and understanding among Malaysians, urging everyone to learn from one another rather than harbor suspicion. He emphasized that the government is not anti-Chinese or anti-Indian, and that everyone has the right to practice their religion.

Anwar made these remarks during a one-year Madani government dialogue session at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, in response to public concern regarding the inclusivity of the Malay-centric concept.

He also addressed the sentiment that the Cabinet was not working well as a team, stating that ministers from various ministries are indeed performing their respective roles, despite some not receiving wide media coverage. Anwar cited the efforts of ministries such as education, health, commodities, foreign affairs, as well as the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry and Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi encouraged the public to evaluate the performance of the Madani government over the next four years, emphasizing the need for political stability to ensure continued economic growth and to address unemployment in the country.
