The government’s response to a survey conducted by the Merdeka Centre on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s one-year administration has been positive, with a focus on addressing economic concerns, according to Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi Fadzil described the survey’s findings as a “snapshot” of that particular period and noted that the government is taking steps to address issues raised, particularly in relation to economic development.

He also mentioned the Prime Minister’s commitment to focusing on economic growth, including efforts to improve people’s incomes through policies such as the Madani Economy policy and the 2030 New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP).

Fahmi Fadzil highlighted the government’s efforts to combat corruption and improve government administration as well as facilitate business and investment, pointing to a positive direction for economic growth.

Responding to media reports on the Merdeka Centre’s survey, Fahmi, the Unity Government’s spokesman, acknowledged the findings and stated that efforts in the economic development and addressing people’s concerns are already underway.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also noted the survey’s findings and pointed out that the sample size of 1,200 respondents was not reflective of Malaysia’s 32 million population.

Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, stated that the survey does not reflect the overall views of Malaysians and emphasized that the Prime Minister’s approval ratings were better than his predecessors, such as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin also stressed the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the majority of the population and ensuring their well-being.
