Another Perikatan Nasional MP from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has expressed his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The Gua Musang MP, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, is the third MP from Bersatu to declare his support for the unity government led by Anwar. Mohd Azizi, a leader from Kelantan, said his decision was prompted by Anwar’s Budget 2024 presentation, which focused on facilitating economic recovery and easing financial burdens for the people. “I declare my full support for the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, beginning from the date of this media statement,” he stated on Tuesday (Nov 7).

To ensure the well-being and benefits of the people in his constituency, including improvements in infrastructure and facilities, Mohd Azizi said he made the decision after carefully studying and listening to Anwar’s presentation. Additionally, he mentioned that his support for the government’s initiatives in prioritizing the people’s welfare would last until the next general election. He also noted that he had no intention of leaving or betraying Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia. “However, to ensure my Gua Musang constituency’s (development) aligns with the federal government, it is right for me to be a part of the leadership in Putrajaya led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.

Earlier, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid and Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, both from Bersatu, had also declared their support for Anwar, stating that they did so in order to gain extra allocations for their constituencies. Following this, Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin announced that Suhaili and Iskandar Dzulkarnain had been suspended from the party for four and six years, respectively, by the party’s disciplinary board.
